Wine & Chocolate Pairings Benefit Summit House
Summit House Triangle announces our first-ever CocoaVin: An Indulgent Evening Benefiting Summit House Triangle! Our most high-profile fundraising event, CocoaVin is destined to be a delicious evening, where the blending of wine, chocolate and art benefit the families of Summit House. We expect over 200 guests to mix & mingle, swirl & sample, and bid & buy at Artspace on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 7-10:30pm (wine service will end at 10:00). Please help us support the families who come to Summit House to change their lives by participating in our CocoaVin event!
Four of the Summit House Triangle board members hosted pairings to benefit the mothers and children that seek to change their lives at Summit House. Christina Woelffer and Jess O'Mahony co-hosted a pairing on June 24th in the home of Christina and Kirk Woelffer. The setting was beautiful, view from the house included acres of grassy fields with ever-present deer. The wines and chocolates were paired beautifully and everyone had a marvelous time.
Emily Moseley and Brian Sharp hosted a pairing on Saturday, June 27th in the home of Brian and Shari Sharp. Nestled in the hills of Chapel Hill, the Sharp residence is elegant and fun. The pairing was a hit with everyone who attended and their support of Summit House was evident.
Emily Moseley and Bob Esther hosted a pairing on Saturday, August 8th in their lovely home by the lake in Chapel Hill. Many of their friends live in the neighborhood and just walked over to participate and learn about Summit House.
Sarah Atai hosted a fabulous Wine & Chocolate Pairing, at Peche Chocolate on October 15, 2009 and raised awareness, funds and friends. A wonderful time was had by all!
Thanks to all that contributed to these special events! These pairings raised close to $4000 for the mothers and children of Summit House.

Graduations in Charlotte
On May 30th, Summit House had another great success story. J. graduated from the program with her toddler, Ashton. J. spent 17 months with our program and while here she was enrolled and completed her substance abuse classes, many sessions of parenting training to help her with issues and skills in raising Ashton in a safe, loving manner. J. also attended individual therapy sessions to work through many personal issues from her past. J. was employed full-time in a local doggie day care salon where she is responsible for dog grooming. J became so good at grooming, many dog owners request that she be responsible for the grooming of their pets. J. had over $2,000 in her savings account prior to her graduation. She was able to get her driver’s license restored, obtained a car and after graduation, she moved in with her elderly grandmother to assist her with her medical care. J. has a very supportive family and many of them attended her graduation and testified as to what a changed person J. was because of the Summit House program.
Another success story took place on July 16th when E. and her toddler, Evan graduated from Summit House. E. spent 12 months at Summit House. Evan was born while E. was working hard putting her life back together again. E. completed her substance abuse treatment, parenting skills classes and individual counseling sessions. She had $1,500 in her savings account and plans to return to school to complete her Certified Nurses Assistant certificate.
Summit House is proud of everyone who has graduated from our program. The Charlotte site proudly employs two past graduates!

Summit House Rocks at America Concert
Board members, staff and friends of Summit House didn't seem to mind the heat, humidity, and thunderstorms in June as they grilled hamburgers and hot dogs at the Flashback Friday Concert held at the Festival Park in Greensboro. With an opportunity to maintain a concession stand to raise funds for Summit House, our volunteers also got to enjoy a great performance by the 60's rock group "America". The concert, which according the Rolling Stone Magazine, is the "number one Beatles Tribute Show on earth," benefits the Children's Home Society of North Carolina.
Thanks go out to Wheaton Casey, Jody Efird, LaVonne Fisher, Linda Higgins, Jackie Nelson, Bob Smithson and Paula Weller and her husband for all of their help in making this event fun and for getting the word out about Summit House! Thanks also to Tommy Lineberry, Gary Michalove and the Children’s Home Society, for inviting Summit House to participate in this event!
